Introduction

How accident fault works in Ontario

Accident fault rules regulated by the Ontario government. These black and white rules determine who is at fault.

The rules care about vehicle location at time of impact. Weather, unspoken driving rules, what the other driver should have done, doesn't matter. In Ontario only vehicle location on the road and the black and white rules count.

To find which Rule applies to your accident ask what caused the crash. The rules are in categories of where each vehicle is relative to the other.
